Inguinal hernia repair has evolved dramatically in the last decades. Bard PolySoft Hernia Patch is the next logical step in combining the advantages of both anterior approach and posterior placement.
The PolySoft Hernia Patch is used in a minimally invasive, tension-free repair that can be completed through a small 5-6 cm incision and requires minimal suturing. It is a preperitoneal repair performed through an open, anterior approach that can be completed using local or regional anaesthesia,
The PolySoft' Hernia Patch has an oval anatomical shape that fits with the anatomical structures and allows for sufficient overlap of the hernia defect. The "memory ring" has been designed with a special notch to allow room for the iliac vessels.
When performing an indirect hernia repair, the patch is key holed to accommodate the spermatic cord.
Tissue in-growth into the polypropylene mesh and deep placement of the patch allow for a strong repair. Once the patch is placed, an interrupted "memory recoil ring" helps ensure the patch will spring open and maintain its shape. The entire groin region, including the direct, indirect and femoral space, is typically protected.
